This Saturday, football will return to Deepdale after the international break put a temporary halt to the Football League.

Preston will welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Lancashire as Paul Lambert aims to start his career in the Black Country in style.

Last season’s encounter at Deepdale was a frustrating one for the Whites with Trevor Kettle removing two North Enders from the game and Kevin McDonald scoring an injury time equaliser for the away side.

Ahead of this game we spoke to a fan from either side to see what they think of their season so far and what they expect to see in this game…

PRESTON FAN: Worzelo (@pnefc1973)

Who do you feel has been Preston’s most influential player so far this season?

I think it has to be Jordan Hugill. It might not be everyone’s choice but he had to take over as North End’s number one striker after the sale of Joe Garner. He’s handled the pressure well and given 100% every game, which undoubtedly spurs on the rest of the team.

What did you make of the form prior to the international break?

The form we’ve shown is top six worthy without a doubt!

Which player are you backing to score in this match and why?

I’m backing Jordan Hugill to score on Saturday because he’s full of confidence and in Simon Grayson he has a manager who has full belief in him.

What’s your prediction of the final result?

I’m going for a 2-0 win to PNE.

WOLVES FAN: Joe Davies (@joedavieswwfc)

What have you made of your start to the season?

It’s been a funny start to the season with us becoming one of the richest clubs in England. Appointing a manager which many fans didn’t know about was somewhat worrying but he got the fans on his side because of his passion for football.

We got big away wins at Birmingham and Newcastle early in the season and, although we weren’t picking up the best of results, it was a surprise to see Zenga go after just two months. At the moment we are struggling near the bottom of the table, but hopefully new manager Paul Lambert can consolidate us.

Who would you say is your main attacking threat?

When fit, Nouha Dicko is easily our best attacking threat. Helder Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro offer width, pace and skill, and look to have the quality to beat any man for their pace in this league. Dave Edwards can also be seen chipping in with a few goals every season, including 3 already in this campaign.

What do you make of the appointment of Paul Lambert?

Paul Lambert is a safe and solid choice after a risky option which didn’t pay off with Zenga. Ideally I would have wanted Steve Bruce but he had of course already taken the reigns at Aston Villa.

What score do you predict the game to finish at?

Lambert will no doubt be looking for a solid performance at the weekend so I’ll go for a 1-1 draw.

Where do you expect to finish this season and why?

With the money available in January and the potential the team already has, a top 10 finish is not past wolves yet.
